Edmonton Vintage Hockey

About Vintage Hockey

Edmonton Vintage Hockey is one of the most well known private

old-timer organizations across the country. Over the years the number

of participants has risen exponentially, attracting elite players from ages

55 up to 89. Hockey players from all walks of life come together to

enjoy shinny hockey blending players with varying abilities and ages in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and fellowship. Just as important

as hockey is the camaraderie, social atmosphere and long lasting

friendships that are part of the Vintage experience. Social events such

as the daily social gardens, special luncheons, humanitarian causes,

inter-squad tournaments, golf tournaments, table tennis matches,

Christmas dinner and dance, bring old and new players together enjoying

extended aspects of the organization.

From October to March Vintage Hockey plays 5 days a week, with 5-6

sessions per day, 29 sessions weekly. From April to June we play 2 days a

week with 4 sessions per day. We sell 30 spots in each session.

Currently we have over 520 active skating members, so we are close to

capacity, if not over.

It is important to note that the group prides itself on sportsmanship.

Teams have no official refs, with posted rules expected to be

followed. Games require full gear and at minimum, a half visor. Vintage Hockey has five levels of play. Members will be placed in the group level which best represents their current level of play. Over the years,

members are evaluated by group leaders, recommending movement up or down in levels which is part of each members hockey journey

with Vintage.

On the competitive side, selected Vintage members participate on

competitive teams in each age category at the Calgary Molson’s

Tournament in February, the Victoria Playmakers Tournament in March,

and the Parksville Tournament in September. Elite members have achieved very high status at both the provincial and national 55+ championships. Over the years, players have experienced top level

competition at these tournaments.

New members are only accepted into Vintage if space permits. Interested

players must be referred to Vintage Hockey by a current member.  New

players may be subject to an on-ice complimentary session to determine

their level of play, and their compatibility with the Vintage group.

It’s our policy to only take on new players on the younger side and they

must fit into our Group 1, 1 / 2, or 2 level of play.

Edmonton Vintage plays at the Kinsmen Arenas.

The arenas are located at 1979 - 111 Street NW, Edmonton, AB.
